More than $6.8 million in federal projects will be coming to Northwest Indiana for infrastructure, law enforcement and education, U.S. Rep. Peter Visclosky said Thursday. In a news release Visclosky said that he secured $6.825 million for projects in Lake and Porter counties through the Fiscal Year 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act. The House passed the conference report Thursday and the Senate is expected to pass the legislation soon. More than half of the money, $3.9 million, is slated for economic infrastructure. Additionally, $1.925 million will be disbursed to law enforcement agencies and $1 million will be used for education and training programs. Link
