12/11/2009

THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR - Gretchen Becker

The Pike Township School Board went through the first steps of rebuilding an elementary school. A preliminary hearing Thursday was the first step to finance a project. The district plans to tear down and build a new Guion Creek Elementary at the current location, 4301 W. 52nd St., said Linda Searles, district chief financial officer. The $21 million project should start after school lets out this summer and open the second semester of the 2011-12 school year. Students who attend the Guion Creek Elementary would move into the old Eastbrook Elementary at 7839 New Augusta Road, while the old school is demolished and a new one is built, Searles said. Link
